Staff Questions


  • How can I contact HQ Staff?
    The best way to contact HQ Staff is via our private messaging system. Visit this link to see which staff members are currently online and click the envelope image to mail them. HQ Staff are denoted by having small avatars next to their usernames and always appear at the top of the Users Online list. Also remember that each of them may have different jobs and may not be able to help you out with your problem, so make sure to read their profiles before contacting them!

  • What should I contact HQ Staff about?
    Generally speaking, the only time that a staff member should be contacted is to deal with forum related problems. All other site operations can be handled by our automated forms or the forums.

    DO NOT Contact HQ Staff about:
  • Subeta.org problems INCLUSIVE of frozen accounts, why the site is down, glitches, lost items, password problems etc. We won't be able to help you with those.

  • HQ problems on Subeta. All HQ problems are dealt with on-site, not on Subeta.org.

  • Suggestions. Use the Suggestions Forum for those. If enough people like the idea, there's a higher chance of it being implemented. Under no circumstance will we respond to individual user requests for site features. Please remember to read the sticky topics in each forum before posting.

  • Missing Information or Item Corrections. Use the Send Info link on the HQ sidebar to send us corrections as well as any missing data (inclusive of HA overlays and weapon statistics).

  • SubetaHQ problems/glitches. Use the Problems and Bugs Forum for those. Please remember to read the sticky topics in each forum before posting.

  • How do I become HQ Staff?
    When we are hiring new staff members, whether it be moderators, graphics artists or item administrators, it will be announced in the HQ News. However you are more than welcome to submit an application in the meantime under the Applications subforms. NOTE: We do not respond to applications in these forums unless we are hiring.

  • How much does being a HQ Staff member pay?
    nothing. niets. nada. rien. nichts. τίποτα. niente. nada. ничего. 没什么. 沒什麼. 何も. 아무것도
    All HQ Staff are volunteers, we do not get paid for maintaining the site.



HQ Points, Ranking & Contributions


  • What are HQ Points and how do I get them?
    HQ Points are awarded to users for contributing information to the database. For each piece of information you send in, once it is accepted by one of the administrators, you will automatically be awarded HQ points at the ratio of 1 HQ Point per submission. Submissions can include information on new items, missing information, weapon statistics, human avatar overlays and corrections to existing information. These points currently have no other use other than to show how contributive a member is.

  • How do I send information to HQ?
    Use the Send Info link located on the sidebar to send us information. Remember that while you may post news comments with information that we're missing, you will not be credited HQ Points for it unless an Item Administrator manually edits your HQ Points for your contribution.

  • I want to send a Human Avatar overlay in to HQ, but I don't know how! Help?
    For those of you who never understood how to send in Human Avatar overlay, there's a fully illustrated guide located under the Miscellaneous Tab, then Guides. Alternatively you can read the article by clicking here.

  • I submitted information but did not receive my HQ Points. Why?
    This may be due to the fact that someone else has submitted the same information and their report was accepted before we looked at yours, or an item administrator was in the process of updating the item with the information you submitted prior to even looking at item reports. Remember that HQ Staff do not pick favorites when accepting item information, everyone has an equal chance.

  • How do I suggest something?
    Use the Suggestions Forum for these. If enough people like the idea and it is plausible, it may be considered for site implementation. Under no circumstance will we respond to individual user requests for site features, so please DO NOT mail any staff member with suggestions. Also remember to read the sticky topics in each forum for posting guidelines.

  • What is the HQ Ranking System?
    The HQ Ranking system is used to show how active you are on site. It takes the form of unlit or lit circles, squares or orange stars (progressing in that order) and is measured from your HQ Points, Forum Posts or a combination of the two. (i.e. you can progress through the system with Forum Posts only, HQ Points only, or a combination of both) The ranking formulae is currently set at:

    [(HQ Points * 1.25)] + [(Forum Posts)/5]

    That is, your HQ Points by one and half times plus one fifth of your HQ Forum Posts. For every 1 HQ Point you earn, you've also earned 1.5 Points towards the next rank, and for each Forum Post made, one fifth of a point. Remember that you will be warned if you are found spamming just to raise your ranking and we cannot disclose how many posts or HQ Points it will take to reach the next level -- that'll take all the fun out of things!

    NOTE: Silver Stars in the ranking system are only available to HQ Staff and not available to regular users.



Forums, Reputation & News


  • I cannot access the HQ Forums, there is a message about activating my Subeta username, what do I do?
    Users are now required to activate their Subeta usernames on SubetaHQ to access our forums. This is a measure staff have put into place to lessen the need for moderating. If you haven't yet activated your username, we highly suggest that you do so as soon as possible. This process requires Subeta.org being online, if the site is down, you will be unable to activate your account and therefore unable to visit our forums. Please do not mail staff asking to verify your account for you. The only time we will edit your Subeta username into your HQ account is if you're having problems activating your account yourself, and even in this scenario we require a comment from you on Subeta with your HQ username to verify your identity.

  • What can I post on forums?
    Our current Forum Rules can be found here. Please take some time to read them before posting. Anything outside the rules, or something you are unclear about, please contact a HQ Staff member before posting. If you see someone in violation of one of our more important forum rules such as posting about illegal activities, scam sites etc, please contact a staff member immediately!

  • What is Forum Reputation?
    The Reputation System is used to measure how helpful a user is on the HQ forums. You must ALWAYS fill in a reason for the reputation point and must never leave reputation unless it is warranted. Currently this system is used internally by HQ Staff in conjunction with the Ranking System to pick users to be promoted to a higher User Level and may be taken into consideration when a user applies for HQ Staff.

    E.G. If someone posted something helpful or relevant to the thread, you are more than welcome to leave them a positive reputation point. However, if someone is rude to you, you can leave a negative point, though we ask our users to use their discretion before leaving negative reputation, we are all human and it's possible rude behaviour can be due to a bad day. If this behaviour is consistent, then you may leave negative reputation or contact a moderator to have them look into the situation.

  • What is a verbal warning?
    Simply put, being told NOT to do something by a staff member is a verbal warning. Most often we will issue a verbal warning on your first offense. On your second violation of the same rule (that caused you to receive a verbal warning in the first place), you will receive an official warning.

  • What is double/multi-posting?
    Double/multi-posting is when you post consecutively on the forums -- that is, posting twice, or more times in a row. We ask users not to do this as it is considered spamming. Keep in mind that we do take into consideration accidental double posts of the same message due to forum glitches, or just a misclick.

  • Can I get a custom Forum Title?
    Depending on how many posts you have in the forums, your forum title changes (Who, Member, Posting Machine etc) . As much as we'd like to offer custom forum titles to our users, we cannot do so due to the fact that this gives us more to moderate, consequently only HQ Staff (or sometimes former HQ Staff) can have custom forum titles.

  • What can I post in the news comments?
    We ask that all news comments be related to the HQ news posts. Please refrain from commenting about Subeta.org being down as those will be deleted.



Items, Lists & Simulators


  • There is a typographical error in an item's name/description. Why isn't is fixed?
    This is because we enter items exactly as they appear on Subeta.org, as such we do not fix typographical errors, punctuation etc.

  • Where can I see the Newest Items or Items that are missing information?
    You can find all of this information on the Status page off of the HQ Sidebar.

  • Where can I see a list of items of a particular rarity?
    You can browse items of a particular rarity by clicking the Rarity Info link on the HQ Sidebar and then using the "View items with rarity" search function.

  • What is the Human Avatar Generator?
    The Human Avatar Generator or "HAGen" is a feature of SubetaHQ that allows you create a Human Avatar and dress it up as you please -- ALL wearables currently available on Subeta.org are available for you to wear, even with layering capability! This way you can try on and play around before you buy!

  • Where can I see the list of Clothing Items, New Wearables, and the Human Avatar Generator?
    You can find everything related to Human Avatars under the Miscellaneous Tab, subsection Human Avatars.

  • What is the Restock SIM?
    The Restock Sim is used to practice your restocking skills (speed training). All of the items that appear in the SIM are actual items which restock in various Subeta shops. Remember that this is only a simulation, you are not actually purchasing the items nor are the prices identical to Subeta's shop prices.

  • Why isn't there a list for this item?
    Chances are there is no need for it. E.G. If you'd like a list of all growable Seedlings on Subeta, you can simply search on the sidebar for "Seed" and it will generate a list for you as all seedlings have the word "seed" in them. However, if there's a list that we do not have but you believe is necessary, you are more than welcome to start one in our Subeta Lists Forum.

  • How do I comment on an item?
    We no longer allow users to comment on items as this gives us more to moderate. Currently this feature is used internally by HQ staff only.



User Information, Widgets & HQ Custom Content


  • How do I get a little icon next to my username on the Users Online list?
    These icons are used to denote SubetaHQ Staff. Regular users cannot get these avatars next to their usernames. Also, the higher your User Level, the higher you appear on the Users Online list.

  • How do I change my password, e-mail address or customize my HQ Profile?
    You can do all of this under the Your Preferences link on the sidebar. Please note that you cannot customize your HQ Profile aside from adding text and images (posted using mCode, CSS and HTML are NOT allowed!)

  • I changed my username on Subeta, can my HQ username be changed as well?
    Providing the username you want isn't taken on HQ you can have your account renamed. Please contact any Level 4 staff member for this. On occasion we will cater to other username request changes, but please don't make it a habit!

  • Where can I find HQ's Widgets?
    The widgets are all located under Your Preferences and then the Widgets link. Currently we feature User Information Widget (for displaying your HQ statistics on your profile), Profile Layout Widget (for using HQ's custom user profiles) and Goal Meter Widget (to help you track the progress of an item that you've been saving for). More of these will be added in the future.

  • Can I use HQ graphics on Subeta?
    Yes, all graphics from HQ's Graphics section may be used freely on Subeta.org. We only ask that you do not claim them as your own. A link-back to the site is appreciated, but isn't necessary.

  • Can I modify HQ graphics/coding if I give the creator credit?
    Due to excessive theft that our artists have had, most of them agree that this is absolutely NOT allowed! If you require coding or graphic help, there are many guides on the Internet to assist you. Alternatively you may contact the HQ Artist in question to ask if they'll do custom work for you.

  • I want to use my own profile code, how do I remove a SubetaHQ Profile?
    Visit your Subeta profile, hit the Edit Your Profile link (located under the navigation bar) and simply remove the Profile Widget by clicking the red X.

  • How do I use an avatar from HQ's Graphics Section?
    To use any avatar, you need to right click on the image and then save it to your computer, visit the Update/Upload an Avatar Page, browse to find the image you saved and hit the Upload button. Regarding changing your current HQ avatar, even though the avatar upload form does not display your new avatar, it is in fact updated. Visit your profile by clicking your username on the HQ sidebar to verify or hit refresh on the result page after uploading your new avatar.

  • How do I verify my Subeta username on SubetaHQ?
    You can begin the process of verifying your username by clicking here and following the instructions listed.
